Frequently asked questions when hiring a bouncy castle.
Q. How do I book with you?
A.We have different contact methods. You can telephone us on 01242 235273 or 07774416639, send us an enquiry via our enquiry form on the website, check live availability and book online or private message us on our All about fun uk.com facebook page.
Q. How much notice do I need to give to book a bouncy castle?
A. As much as possible as we do get booked up very quickly, especially in the summer months, therefore as soon as you have a date in mind, do get in touch. If you are looking for a timed delivery in a hall or venue, we can only cater for a certain number of halls at the same time so please to book early to avoid disappointment.
Q. When are your bouncy castles available to hire?
A. All year round but we do not work Christmas day. During the winter months we do only hire to inside halls and venues. Our soft play is only ever hired to inside halls and venues all year round to keep it in good quality clean condition.
Q. I would like to hire soft play, why do I need a hall or inside venue?
A. We pride ourselves on good quality clean soft play and in order to be able to continually offer this, we will only allow our soft play to be set up inside a hall or venue.
Q. What if I need to cancel, do you charge a cancellation fee?
A. For all kids bouncy castles, we do not charge a cancellation fee. For larger events where a deposit is required to secure a date, we will retain any deposit monies.
Q. How much will it cost to run an inflatable for the whole day?
A. We get this asked quite often and have been advised that on average you could be looking at as little as £2 a day.
Q. Do you offer discounts if multiple items are booked?
A. Yes. Please have a look at our party packages page for ideas and inspiration. Check out our latest news page for latest up dates. For a bespoke quotation call us on 01242 235273 for a bulk booking discount.
Q. What happens if it is raining on the day or it is particularly bad weather?
A. We do have some bouncy castles that have shower covers for light rain. HOWEVER bouncy castles should not be used in heavy rain due to health and safety. If the weather is particularly bad on the day, you can cancel, we would then not come out to you and we will not charge. If there is a heavy shower during the hire period, then we will advise you not to use the bouncy castle during this time, cover up the electrics/switch off the power and wait for the rain to stop. When the rain has ceased then all that is required is a wipe down with a towel to dry the bouncy castle bed. Exact conditions of safe use will also be explained on the day.
Q. Can bouncy castles be used in high winds?
A. Unfortunately not. In the 20 years of trading we have only once ever had to cancel all outside bouncy castle bookings due to high winds. The legal wind speed limit set out by the HSE is 24mph, your children's safety is of paramount importance to us and if a weather warning is put in place by the MET office then we will adhere to their protocol.
Q. What do your hire charges include?
A. All hire charges include the delivery, set up and collection for you. We also supply all the accessories that include the electric blower, 30 metre extension cables, safety crash mats, anchor stakes or sand bags (indoor hires only). Prices DO NOT include a petrol generator.
Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. Cash on delivery, cheques payable to All about fun uk.com by prior agreement. We do also accept BACS/online payment that needs to be cleared before the day. We have also just signed up with worldpay so card payments can be used via worldpay.
Q. Do I need to pay a deposit?
A. We do not ask for a deposit on every day kids bouncy castles hired in the local Cheltenham, Gloucestershire area. We do however ask for a 25% deposit on larger orders for events and weddings.
Q. What kind of surface area do you require for the bouncy castle?
A. All bouncy castles and inflatables require a flat grassed area with easy access into the garden without steps. The area also needs to be clear of sharp objects, dog mess and excessive mud.
Q. Can the bouncy castle be set up on a slope or uneven ground?
A. A very slight slop should be fine, HOWEVER bouncy castles cannot be set up on a steep gradient. If you are unsure whether you have a suitable space for the bouncy castle, then please contact us on 01242 235273 and we can discuss options. If we are in your local area then a free site visit may be possible
Q. Can the bouncy castle be set up be set up on tarmac/ concrete, gravel, decking, stones, pebbles or chippings?
A. Unfortunately no. We can only set up bouncy castles outside on a flat grassed area so that they are safely anchored into the ground with anchor stakes. Our bouncy castles cannot be set up outside on concrete, gravel, tarmac, decking, stones, pebbles or artificial surfaces. The reason for this is that each anchor point requires a weight of 163kg as per BSEN 14960 regulations. The only alternative is to drill into the pavement and this is a service that we do not offer. This does not apply to indoor hires. Please see next question.
Q. Can the bouncy castle be set up indoors?
A. Yes. Bouncy castles are always popular choices for inside local halls, community centres, schools, nurseries, church halls etc. We are proud to say that at least one of our bouncy castles will fit inside any of the halls in the Cheltenham area. Please click on Halls and Venues for further information. For all indoor hires extra crash mats and sand bag weights are supplied. If you think that your chosen venue has a height restriction then please call us as we are very confident that we will be able to help.
Q. Do you hire bouncy castles outside during the winter months?
A. Unfortunately no. During the winter months, we do only hire to indoor venues only. The reason for doing so is to help maintain the quality of our bouncy castles. After all a smelly mouldy bouncy castle can ruin an indoor bouncy castle party.
Q. Will the bouncy castle damage my lawn?
A. A flat grassed area is the perfect choice for a bouncy castle. We do have to hammer at least 6 anchor stakes into the ground but you can be rest assured that any holes left in the grass will disappear in a few days. Please do mention if you have any under ground pipes eg for the garden pond before having the pegs secured into the ground as we will not be held responsible for any damage to a burst pipe.
Q. Can we move the bouncy castle?
A. No, for insurance reasons, the bouncy castle has to be delivered and set up by our team and not moved once we have left. If you choose to move the bouncy castle then any insurance claim will be invalid.
Q. Can I collect the bouncy castle from you and set it up myself?
A. No, for insurance purposes, we will deliver, set up and collect the bouncy castle for you at the agreed times.
Q. What kind of delivery access do you require?
A. All bouncy castles are wheeled into the garden on a sack truck. Therefore clear side gated access is required. Bouncy castles are bulky and heavy and cannot be lifted. A standard sized doorway space is required to wheel the bouncy castle into the garden and double gated access is required for larger activity units and combi slides.
Q. When the bouncy castle is delivered, do I have to set it up myself?
A. As part of the bouncy castle hire service, we will come along on the day, set everything up for you at the agreed time and come back and dismantle everything for you at the agreed time. We will require one main power supply from the house, garage or outside supply.
Q. What time will you come along and set up the bouncy castle for a childrens bouncy castle party?
A. Good question. For outside private garden hires for kids bouncy castles we will come along on the morning and then collect back in from 5pm onwards or earlier if preferred. If you have a morning party then we can make you the first delivery of the day. If your party is inside a hall then we will come long when you have the keys to the hall and then collect back in 10 minutes after the party has ended. The latest that we will come back to collect a Childs bouncy castle is no later than 8pm.
Q. I have no side access; can I still hire a bouncy castle?
A. Only if you are hiring from our tots bouncy castle range that includes the 8ft by 9ft, 9ft by 11ft or 10ft by 12ft bouncy castles. Our bigger bouncy castles are too big and bulky to go through the house and please be aware, that if it does rain during the hire period that the WET bouncy castle will still need to come back through the house. We will NOT be held responsible for any damage to carpets or steps if a bouncy castle has to come and go through the house.
Q. Do you require an electrical socket?
A. Yes, we do require one main power supply (general household socket) from the house, garage, shed or outside supply. We do supply the extension cables for up to 30 metres.
Q. What if I havenandrsquo;t got a power point close by?
A. At an extra hire cost, we can supply a petrol blower. You will however need to top this up every 2-3 hours. If you have a generator then all of our electric blowers for kidandrsquo;s castles are 1.1 kw so you will require a 3Kva generator per blower.
Q. Do I need to keep the blower running?
A. Yes, in order to keep the bouncy castle inflated, the electric blower does need to be left on. If you wish to switch it off at all, then just turn the power off at the wall and take the plug out.
Q. How long do I get to keep the bouncy castle?
A. When booking a bouncy castle we will always ask your party times to ensure the bouncy castle is in place before the start of the party. For outside hires, we will deliver the bouncy castle on the morning and collect later on in the day/early evening. With inside halls and venues, we will deliver to you as soon as you have access to the hall and come back and collect 10 minutes after the party has ended ensuring that everything is packed away before you need to vacate the building.
Q. How long does it take to set up and pack away the bouncy castle?
A. Approximately 15 to 20 minutes to set everything up for you and go through the safe conditions of use and then at least 15 minutes to pack everything away. Times may vary however depending on which bouncy castle you hire.
Q. How much space will the bouncy castle need?
A. For exact dimensions and space required please refer back to the page where your preferred bouncy castle preference is sited. Please do consider pruning any over hanging trees and shrubs before we arrive and make sure that the area is free from dog mess, toys, swings, slides, patio furniture etc.
Q. When I hire a bouncy castle from you, is there anything that I need to provide or do before arrival?
A. As above. Please do also take into consideration that the bouncy castle will be wheeled into the garden on a sack truck, therefore complete access is required. This includes the driveway as well, so please do ensure that any vehicles on the drive do not obstruct the access.
Q. Is there an age limited for people using the bouncy castle?
A. We have so many bouncy castles available to hire. They are all different and have different specifications. Please do refer back to the page where your preferred bouncy castle preference is sited.
Q. How many people can use the bouncy castle at the same time?
A. This depends on the size of bouncy castle that you decide to hire. Exact specifications are detailed on each bouncy castle choice on the main website.
Q. Are adults allowed to go on the bouncy castle?
A. We do have some bouncy castles that are perfect for adult use. Please do click the link to our adult bouncy castle section.
Q. Do you supply safety instructions?
A. Yes, conditions of safe use are always explained to the hiree once the bouncy caste has been set up.
Q. Does the bouncy castle need to be supervised at all times?
A. Yes, as part of our public liability insurance conditions, it does specify that any bouncy castle does require supervision by an appropriate adult.
Q. Do you hire bouncy castles overnight?
A. We do not hire any children's bouncy castle overnight as we have found from 25+years experience that they are at a higher risk of getting damaged and adults are more likely to use the bouncy castle so invalidating any insurance. On some occasions we will hire our adult bouncy castles over night, please do ask for further information?
Q. Are you insured?
A. Yes, we hold public liability insurance cover and a copy of this cover is available to any one that has booked any of our services from us.
Q. Can you supply staff to supervise the bouncy castle?
A. Yes, but at an additional cost. We do charge £25+vat and may at busy times use an auxiliary company for additional staffing . This hire charge is based on a mandatory 3-4 hour hire period plus any mileage if applicable.
Q. How safe is the bouncy castle?
A. We take bouncy castle safety very seriously and we do our upmost to adhere to the most up to date bouncy castle regulations. For a full description please click on our health and safety policy for further information.
